Universiti Brunei Darussalam
Education (formal and informal) plays a crucial role in the learning processes and in the transmission and acquisition of cltural knowledge among children and youth. This workshop is a pioneering collaboration among Centre for Advanced Research (CARe), Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Advancement (ILIA), and Sultan Hassanak Bolkiah Institute of Education (SHBIE) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), in conjunction with the University of Western Australia, in bringing together researchers from different discipilines to discuss educational practices and studies on youth through the empirical methodology of ethnography. It welcomes research that uses ethnographic methods to examine how people act, interact, and construct meanings and identities in natural settings.
Though an examination of ethnographic cases from the region, the workshop provides a platform for intelectual exchange on theoretical significance of ethnographic practices, multiple methodes of generating data, issues and challenges related to ethnographic approach and ways to recognize the centrality of the researcher in the research process.
